Empowering Tribal Women through Biochar and Value Addition in Aravalli

We had a productive meeting with Ms. Mehak Jain, DDO, Aravalli, to discuss sustainable livelihood-generation opportunities for tribal women and the potential for climate-resilient rural development in the district. The discussion focused on: Creating livelihood opportunities for tribal women through biochar production using the Kon-Tiki method. Value addition and processing opportunities for Jamun and Custard apple. Assessing the impact of biochar-based biomanure on turmeric growth, soil health and crop productivity. Supporting women-led production and sale of biochar-based biomanure to create sustainable income opportunities. Strengthening local rural enterprises while promoting soil restoration, circular use of biomass and climate-resilient agriculture. By combining local knowledge, available biomass resources and practical agricultural innovations, this initiative aims to create meaningful income opportunities for tribal women while improving soil health and reducing biomass waste. The project is being implemented by Sajeevan Life Private Limited in Aravalli, with financial support from WHEELS and under the guidance of the ISAP India Foundation. We sincerely thank Ms. Mehak Jain, DDO, Aravalli, for her valuable time, encouragement and constructive guidance. We look forward to continued collaboration for inclusive, sustainable and women-led rural development in Aravalli.
