**Uvarsad, Gandhinagar:** Sajeevan Life Pvt. Ltd., an agritech startup based in Rajkot, Gujarat, is collaborating with the Gujarat Environment Management Institute (GEMI), an autonomous institute of the Government of Gujarat, on a pilot project to study the impact of biochar on soil health and sustainable crop production.
The study, titled *“Integrated Assessment of Biochar Effect on Soil Carbon Dynamics, Nutrient Cycling and Sustainable Crop Production,”* is being conducted at Uvarsad, Gandhinagar, during the period 2025–26.
The project aims to assess how biochar, a carbon-rich material produced from biomass, can contribute to improving soil quality, supporting nutrient cycling and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. The research also focuses on understanding soil carbon dynamics and evaluating the potential benefits of biochar for crop productivity and long-term soil sustainability.
Through field observations, crop assessments and collaborative research, the initiative seeks to generate valuable insights into environmentally responsible farming practices. The findings could help farmers and agricultural stakeholders better understand the role of biochar in maintaining soil health and improving resource efficiency.
The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the connection between scientific research and practical agricultural solutions. By combining environmental expertise with field-level agricultural engagement, Sajeevan Life and GEMI aim to contribute to climate-resilient farming and sustainable rural development.
The pilot study represents an important step towards exploring innovative, science-based approaches to building healthier soils and a more sustainable agricultural future.
